History
Emmanuel Baptist Christian Academy (EBCA) began in the fall of 1972 under the name Tri County Christian High School. Although there were a few Christian elementary schools in the Harrisburg area, there was no Christian High School until Tri County Christian High School began with Grades 9 through 12. There was considerable excitement during this initial year as this was near the beginning of the Christian School movement. Parents were thrilled to have the option of sending their children to a Christian High School where classes would open in prayer and all teachers were born again Christians.
Grades 7 and 8 were added around 1978 and the official name of the school was changed to EBCA. The first Kindergarten Class (K-5) was started in 1979. During the three subsequent years, a full complement of elementary classes (Grades 1 through 6) were added and provided a full range of classes from K-5 through 12th Grade. Then, during the 1990's, K-4 was added both as a ministry to parents who worked and as a preparation for their children entering K5.
EBCA has helped to train many graduates for college and the work force, and has helped these graduates fulfill the Lord's will for their lives either in full time ministry or in secular work. Today, we have graduates who have completed their entire education from K-5 to Grade 12 at EBCA, who have completed their college educations, and are now serving as teachers on staff . We also have numerous graduates whose children are now attending or who have already graduated from EBCA. The school has many alumni on the mission field, in pastorates, in Christian schools, and as lay people in the work of God.
Truly this area, and the world, has been blessed because God saw fit in 1972 to burden believers at Emmanuel Baptist Church to offer an alternative to public school education when EBCA was born.
